What is Hypnosis?
A Simple Answer is: It's Our Own Form Of Windows Update & Anti-virus Software
Hypnosis is a very powerful and beneficial therapeutic tool, hypnosis is different for all of us and we all experience it in different ways.
When people go into Hypnosis, they get the benefit of becoming relaxed, as in meditation, and to an observer, they will perceive the person to be asleep or in a world of there own. But appearances can be deceiving, in this altered state of awareness, all outside distractions are eliminated and your attention is heightened and focused on the present at a subconscious level. Your conscious mind can still be highly active in this state or it can just seem like its drifting away, either way, in this altered state your subconscious becomes accessible, giving you limitless possibilities for change. Unlike what TV and Films would have you believe, hypnosis is a natural state we enter, and as its natural we have full control over it, entering and leaving whenever we choose.
HYPNOSIS IS A NATURAL STATE WE GO INTO EVERY DAY
HYPNOSIS THAT YOU EXPERIENCE IN EVERYDAY LIFE
Hypnosis is a natural, familiar state. We all move in and out of the hypnotic state all day long. For instance, sometimes we go into this state when we’re driving, watching TV, listening to music, daydreaming or working on a project that we’re passionate about. Now you may be reading this and thinking Really? So let's take it a little further, have you ever been in your car driving along and get to your destination and then thinking 'that was quick' or not remembering the journey at all? What has happened is you've gone onto Auto-Pilot, which is apart of your subconscious mind, you've induced your own hypnotic state to access that programming. Interesting right?
Now for those who don't drive, think about the last time you started daydreaming, you maybe started to think about something fun or even erotic and then had a physical response to what you've been imagined, what has happened is you've gone into hypnosis and our subconscious mind can't tell the difference between pretend and real, so has responded as if it was happening now. Strange right? and now imagine what you could do with this natural state.
Some people can enter into hypnosis more quickly than others, and everyone can improve his or her ability to reach the hypnotic state through practice. A lot of people think they can’t be hypnotised, but they can. Everyone can be hypnotised.
The reason we know that everyone can be hypnotised is due to us all going to sleep at some point and then waking up, when we go to sleep we go through a state of hypnosis know as 'Hypnogogic' it's the state that your not a 100% sure if your asleep or awake, that twilight moment, this state is our natural moment to de-stress and let go of anything we've picked up, like clearing out your junk emails on your computer, and then we go to sleep. Sometimes this can take a long time to do and that's due to what we've picked up and how much were fighting with this state.
We also go into another hypnotic state when we wake, known as 'hypnopompic' and this is just to clear anything that may have come to light while dreaming. These 2 states are very important to us and should be allowed to happen naturally and freely and never interrupted so that we can de-stress and let go.
Have you ever noticed when you've been waken up by an alarm or by someone how groggy and moody you are? or when you've had a few to drink before bed how tired and snappy you can be? This is due to your body and mind not having the opportunity to do what its meant to and this still holding onto the previous day's stress and rubbish.
Helpful Information: You can train your mind to wake naturally when you need it to, simply by telling it to wake at .... time, when in your twilight zone (takes some practice) but can be done
With hypnosis being apart of our sleep cycle, if you do fall asleep during a hypnosis session, the suggestions are still absorbed and will still have the desired effect.
Hypnosis is the state from which you can make extremely powerful changes in your life because it is the state in which you are the most receptive, creative, and intuitive.

BUT WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. All of the transformation you experience as a result of a session is because of what you have done. The power always lies within you.

Hypnotherapy works because when we are in this altered, natural state we become open to suggestion.
Hypnosis is a process that increases awareness of the unconscious mind, heightened sense of suggestibility, and deep relaxation to access the subconscious mind without resistance. This allows for brainwave state shifts to take place to promote wellness and recovery. Hypnotherapy does not access willpower but has the amazing ability to utilize the power of imagination and effect a change in reality by allowing access to the subconscious mind.
In a battle for change between the conscious and subconscious, the subconscious always wins. Hypnotherapy helps you make the changes where it counts, the subconscious.
